My Birthday update...a year later (thats for you E...lol)

Ok, so its only like way about time I blogged about the glorious ritual of turning one year older. As I am sure you all know from my previous blog, my birthday was 7/9/84 in which I turned 24 years-old. Now this was a very exciting time for me, not only has a lot changed in my life, but I also actually had more like a birthday week, which is super exciting. As far as pictures go, I do have lots that I took that week and so on, unfortunately I am blogging from work (I know, I am supposed to be saving lives, not blogging), therefore I can't upload any pics I took, so be excited about a soon to post picture only blog!!!

So first, I must tell you about all the exciting activities that occurred during my birthday week. First, Monday my mother and I went to the hair salon where I get my hair done and she and I both got our hair cut and colored. I was wanting a change, tired of being a light, washed out brown. I really wanted something that would turn heads. So Joshua (the greatest gay hair cutter around!!!)suggested that I do like a dark brown with a red punch to it to really bring out my eyes. Needless to say, I agreed to let him do what ever he wanted and the color is GORGEOUS!!! Its def a little more brown and a little less red then we were going for, so we have already decided next time we will add a bit more red to tone down the brown. Regardless, everyone who sees it has LOVED it so far and tell me I look amazing with my hair dark. Tuesday, I went to see one pt for my home health job. After I finished, I went home and got Sierra, Rachel (Sierra's friend), and Haley and we all went to Whirling Waters for 2 for Tuesday (A great deal compared to the outrageous price you would normally pay.) It was the best time ever. Haley and I got to talk and bond, which is always fun and I even got some sun...who could/would have thought I could get some color...lol. After whirling waters, I took Haley back to my house where we watched "A Walk to Remember" because Haley had never seen it. I know...no need to say anything to me, I was already amazed she had never seen it, like what planet is she from ;) Then came Wednesday, my actual birthday. I chose to work that morning to make some extra money. After I got off work, I went and ran some errands, including an eye exam in which I found out I am still blind as a bat. I can only see the E without glasses and to make matters worse the E is blurry too, its just not so blurry I can't see it. Needless to say, I am blind...so sad :( Anyways, after the eye exam, I decided to get contacts again. They just came out like 3 weeks ago and are made for astigmatisms only, which is great since I have an astigmatism. Apparently, normal eyeballs are like basketballs, but if you have an astigmatism, your eyeball is shaped more like a football, why everything has to be about sports I don't know, but needless to say my eyeballs are footballs...lol. So now I have a new hair do, contacts, and according to some people who have seen me in the last couple of weeks, I have also lost some weight...whoody who, I am a new improved Rachel!!! LOL.
Anyways, Wednesday night, I went with a group of friends and my dad to Myabi's Steakhouse in West Ashley. It was the bomb. And to top it all off, my dad got me a new digital camera...SCORE!!!

I did want to take a moment to thank everyone for my birthday wishes...it meant a lot and I very much appreciate all of you who told me "Happy Birthday". I am going to go ahead and end this blog now since I have fully told you all about my fun birthday week. Next blog to come will be about my date...I know DATE!!! Crazy...lol.
Later,
Rachel

Happy Independence Day!!!

Ok, so I promised a certain someone...(??), that I would text at least once a week and I am trying to stay true to this. Its hard to find the time to sit down and blog...although if I did it everyday, I wouldn't have to write so much when I do finally sit down to blog. LOL. But anyways, at least I am writing something today :)

Speaking of today, it is the 4TH OF JULY!!

Not only is this an exciting day because of America's Independence and all that important stuff, but its exciting because it means my birthday is only 5 DAYS AWAY!!! That is right, I love birthdays, they are very exciting. I will be 24 (God that seems old) years-old and strangely enough birthdays still excite me. It could be because I am raising a child now and no longer can afford things for myself, for example I haven't had my hair cut in at least 7 months...so in a way I get excited about my birthday because its a day where I may get things I have wanted but couldn't afford...ie, books, dvds, etc. I mean its at least worth it to dream ;)

Speaking of things I want...lol. Some of them are things I absolutely love. For instance, one show that I would love to have on DVD and have been obsessed with recently is Jon and Kate, plus 8.

It comes on TLC and is a show about these to parents, Jon and Kate, who end up having twins and then sextuplets...hince the plus 8 part. Its the cutest show ever, and even though I sometimes gripe about how ridiculous reality TV is, I can't help but watch this show any chance I get. Plus, sometimes when I feel like I just can't deal with raising Sierra, I watch this show, where these two parents are raising 8 kids under 10 years-old without daily help, and I realize...Geesh I got nothing to complain about.

Also, I really want a couple of new books I have fell in love with at Barnes and Nobles. One book that I really want is by this new author, Stephanie Meyer. She became "famous" with this teenage vampire love series...lol. Its actually three books so far with the fourth one about to come out in August. Each book is at least 500 pages and was intended to be popular with the "teenage" crowd. But, kinda of like a "Harry Potter", it became famous with all age groups. I am almost done the third book...Eclipse and have already reserved the fourth book Breaking Dawn. The book I really want to buy now though, is also by Stephanie Meyer and its her attempt at "adult books" Its supposed to be written for a more "mature" audience, like a Nicholas Sparks or Nora Roberts book would be intended for. Its called Host and looks amazing. I can't wait to read it. I have never been into vampire type books, but this is a romance, mystery, and sci-fi book all in one. It just gets you and draws you in. Next thing you know, you have finished a 500 page book and are yearning for more.

Who knows, hopefully I will get a few exciting things for my birthday. Granted just being able to be with friends and family are exciting enough :) Speaking of friends and family, I plan on going to Myabi's Japanese Steak House on my birthday for dinner. I have invited a few people and I think it will be a good time. Unfortunately some people can't come, for instance Erica (so sad) lives in FL and can't make it. David is working that night as the proud cop that he is ;) and Levi (who has missed my last 3 birthdays already) leaves this Sunday for Miami for 3 weeks of training before he goes back overseas. Alas, it will still be amazing with the wonderful people that are coming but I wish those fools ( ;) LOL) could be here too.

As far as Sierra goes, all is well. I just paid the second part of her fee for her white water rafting trip with the church. She goes July 18, 19, and 20. Needless to say she is beyond excited. I am glad I was able to pay for her to do at least one thing exciting this summer. Speaking of paying, no child support has come my way yet. It blows, because there is so much I could have Sierra doing this summer if I just had the money to pay for it. I really hope that the courts are the ones making it difficult and that Josh really is trying to pay it to me. The other part of me though thinks otherwise.

Anyways, I guess thats enough of an update for now. I had a bad viral infection the other day, but seem to be a bit better today. I hope I continue to feel ok, seeing how I have to work Sat and Sun night. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Anyways, hope all is well with everyone...blog with you soon :)

It's about time...

So I did that title for Erica...LOL. I know its what she is saying as she reads this, and it seems to fit. I haven't really updated people in awhile so I guess it's about time that not only I blog for Erica, but that I update everyone.

Where to start...Life lately has actually been ok, believe it or not. Hectic, crazy, stressful (financially), rewarding, etc, but needless to say pretty livable :)

Right now I am currently still living in North Charleston in Alta Shores apartment complex.

I was living with a friend from high school, Valerie, but she moved out the beginning of June. She moved back home to help pay off debt and save some money. Its kind of a bittersweet thought, I mean I would love to pay off my debt and save money, but at the same time I don't know if I could move back in with either of my parents. That is not to say that I do not love my parents or that we don't get a long. Actually the reason is that I have been living out of the house since 18 and I have come to love that independence, I just don't know if I could give it up to go back home. Granted after 18 you are independent from parents, but we all know that moving back home requires adjustment and the following of some rules that we have since left behind. Anyways, back to my update...I am currently living with Sierra, whom I recently got temporary legal custody of. She really is an amazingly kind and intelligent person, but needless to say she is a hormonal 12 year-old and I have never raised a kid before so this all new to me. It seems to be that a lot of people had doubts about me taking on a child, and while I can say I really appreciate their concerns for me, I really get pride out of telling them all...you obviously don't know a damn thing...lol. I think I have come amazing strides with my life and Sierra since I have gotten her, and even though it is a hard road at times, I don't regret getting her at all. To the people who have supported me all along, you know who you are and it means the world that you constantly have my back.

Speaking of Sierra, my sister is no longer speaking to me. Granted I don't really feel that this is love lost, but to be honest it does hurt that she is still so lost in herself that she has to act like this towards me. I hope she knows deep down inside that I will always love her and that the reason I have Sierra is not just because I love Sierra but because I also love my sister. Maybe one day she will fully understand this and things will start to heal. On a negative note, I have still not gotten any child support payments. I currently receive about $150 from DSS and even though I greatly appreciate the governments help, no one in there right mind can raise a child of any age on 150 a month. If you do, or you know someone who can, please have them call me ASAP. Anyways back to the child support...Josh (sperm donor/father (for lake of better term)) is supposed to be mailing his payments to the court in SC and those said payments are supposed to then be sent to me. Of course, no payments have come in from Josh. I called Josh last night to ask him about why he has not sent in any money, you know, give him a chance to defend himself because I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, it seemed like a lot of lies and on top of that I think he may still be sending the money directly to Amanda. I believe this because she has gas money, money to go shopping, and apparent money to let Sierra take an art camp this summer, but is currently unemployed and not on unemployment. How do you have money when you have no "apparent" resources for said money?? Whatever, I am going to email my lawyer and hopefully she can get something going. I mean that's why we pay lawyers so much right???

It would be really nice to start getting that money, Sierra has not been able to really do any activities this summer because I could afford to pay for anything. If I could start to get some money, I could actually register her for activities she really wants to do.

So moving on from Sierra for a minute and since I mentioned living with parents earlier...My mom is currently staying with me. She had to leave her last apartment and doesn't have a place to stay right now. She is currently looking for a job. She is doing fairly well and that makes me happy, although it is stressful at times to have another body in the house. ON the flip side, she helps watch Sierra when I am working my six out of seven days. Also, she cleans, does laundry, and helps cook dinner. I guess when you consider all that its kind of a nice perk. Plus, she is my mother and no matter what I love her and will always try and help her get back on her feet.

I just previewed this post and realized its extremely long...LOL, sorry to anyone who reads it...HA HA, like I said I hadn't updated people in awhile, and I guess I have more going on then I knew. Its hard to get the A. time and B. computer to write these posts. Right now we only have the desktop computer working and there are three people living here. One in particular loves to be on the computer forever, rather its brain games or the Disney website, Sierra is always on this thing. Plus, working two jobs and never getting a rest kinda makes me, well, exhausted. Therefore sometimes I just want to sit and do nothing...LOL. Anyways, I don't think I have anything else to really say at this time. I have to go change Erica's picture on my page before she disowns me ;). I guess the good thing is the next post maybe shorter?!?! Anyways, I hope you all have a good day. Comment if you want...
